Relinquishment may be in whole or in part. Partial surrender may extend to certain substances listed in the Mining Title or Authorisation, on certain surfaces, or both.
When the relinquishment applies to surfaces, the abandoned surfaces shall, to the extent possible, form a compact block with the sides aligned to the north-south and east-west, which is attached to the one of the sides of the area in the Title.
Relinquishment of all or some of the rights conferred by a Mining Operation Title carries with it relinquishment of the corresponding rights to the same extent.
