A crushing plant is the integrated facility within a mining operation that houses all crushing, screening, conveying, and ancillary equipment required to reduce run-of-mine (ROM) ore to a product size suitable for downstream processing or direct shipment. In bauxite, gold, iron ore, and diamond mining, the crushing plant is often the primary interface between the mine and the processing or export facility, and its availability and throughput performance are critical to achieving overall site production targets. A typical crushing plant includes primary crushers (jaw or gyratory), secondary and tertiary cone or impact crushers, vibrating screens, feed bins, weightometers, dust suppression systems, and control rooms equipped with SCADA systems. The layout of a crushing plant is designed to minimize material handling distances, optimize gravity-assisted material flow, and provide safe and efficient access for maintenance activities. Crushing plants may be fixed, semi-mobile, or fully mobile, with mobile and modular designs increasingly adopted in remote or phased mining projects to reduce capital costs and improve operational flexibility.
