Ore Washing

Ore Washing is a mineral processing operation that uses water to remove unwanted materials such as clay, soil, dust, and fine particles from mined ore before further treatment. The process improves ore quality by eliminating contaminants that may interfere with crushing, screening, beneficiation, or metallurgical processing.

Ore washing is widely used in bauxite mining because many bauxite deposits contain significant amounts of clay and fine impurities. Washing can increase alumina content and reduce reactive silica levels, improving refinery performance. In iron ore operations, washing removes clay and fine gangue minerals that reduce product quality.
