Airborne Dust

Fine solid particles suspended in the atmosphere generated by mining activities including blasting, drilling, vehicle movement on unsealed roads, crushing, and materials handling. In open-cut bauxite and iron ore operations, airborne dust is a significant environmental and occupational health concern. Control measures include water spraying, chemical dust suppressants, windbreaks, enclosed transfer points, and speed limits on haul roads.
