Winning Consortium has launched construction of a major vocational training center in Kaboyé, Boké Prefecture, marking a significant investment in workforce development aimed at supporting Guinea’s rapidly expanding mining and industrial sectors.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on June 2, brought together senior government officials, local authorities, community representatives, and executives from Winning Consortium. The project aligns with Guinea’s broader strategy to strengthen human capital and prepare a skilled workforce capable of supporting the country’s long-term economic transformation under Simandou 2040 development vision.
With an investment exceeding US$18 million, the Winning Consortium Vocational Training Center is expected to become one of the most significant industry-oriented training facilities in Boké region. Once operational, the center will accommodate up to 500 trainees and provide technical education tailored to the needs of the mining, railway, port, logistics, and industrial sectors.
The facility will include modern classrooms, practical training workshops, accommodation facilities, sports infrastructure, and specialized technical equipment designed to meet industry requirements.
The project reflects a growing recognition among mining companies operating in Guinea that long-term sector sustainability depends not only on infrastructure and resource development but also on the availability of a qualified national workforce. As major mining investments continue to reshape the country’s economic landscape, demand for skilled technicians, equipment operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, and industrial professionals is expected to increase substantially.
Speaking during the ceremony, government representatives highlighted the importance of vocational training in supporting Guinea’s industrialization agenda. Officials emphasized that sustainable economic transformation cannot be achieved without parallel investment in human capital development and technical education.
For Winning Consortium, the training center represents a strategic extension of its localization and capacity-building efforts. A notable moment during the ceremony came from Loua Germain, Operations Director at Missira mine, who shared his personal experience within SMB-Winning Consortium. He described how training opportunities received both in Guinea and China enabled his professional advancement since joining the company in 2016, illustrating the role that skills development can play in building national expertise within the mining sector.
Professor Sophie Xiaohui Lv, Vice President of Winning International Group and Managing Director of Winning Consortium Holdings, underscored the company's belief that the true value of industrial investment extends beyond physical infrastructure. She noted that sustainable development depends on the competencies, talent, and opportunities created for future generations.
The center is expected to contribute directly to the development of a new generation of Guinean technical professionals capable of supporting large-scale mining and infrastructure projects. Its establishment comes at a time when Guinea is pursuing ambitious industrialization objectives, including the development of integrated mining, railway, port, and processing infrastructure associated with major projects across the country.
