Ambient Dust

Particulate matter present in the atmospheric environment surrounding a mine operation, arising from both mining activities and natural background sources. Ambient dust levels are measured as total suspended particulate (TSP), PM10, and PM2.5 fractions and compared against regulatory limits. Monitoring networks around bauxite, iron ore, and gold mine operations track ambient dust to verify that mining-related contributions remain within approved environmental limits.
