Auger Drilling
A rotary drilling method in which a helical screw (auger) is advanced into unconsolidated or soft ground to collect soil or regolith samples. In bauxite exploration and grade control, auger drilling is a cost-effective method for sampling shallow laterite ore bodies without requiring water or drilling fluids. Chip or bulk samples recovered from auger holes are used for geochemical analysis, resource estimation, and mine planning purposes.
