Batch Process

A production method where fixed quantities of raw material are processed through individual stages in discrete units rather than in a continuous flow. In mineral processing and refining, batch processes allow precise control of reaction conditions, product quality, and flexibility for small volumes or variable feed materials. Batch processing is used in laboratory testwork, pilot plant studies, and some specialised metallurgical operations where continuous processing is not practical or economical.
