Beneficiation Yield

The mass of beneficiated product obtained from a unit mass of feed ore, expressed as a percentage and representing the proportion of feed reporting to the product stream. Yield is distinct from recovery: a high recovery can be achieved at low yield if the product is a high-grade concentrate. In bauxite and iron ore operations, beneficiation yield determines the mass of saleable product per tonne of run-of-mine ore mined, directly affecting mine economics, transportation requirements, and resource utilisation efficiency.
