The company holds a 27% equity stake in Société Minière de Boké (SMB), the largest producer and exporter of bauxite on the African continent. UMS co-founded SMB alongside Singapore's Winning International Group (40.5%), China's Shandong Weiqiao/China Hongqiao (22.5%), and the Republic of Guinea (10%). Within this consortium, UMS manages overland ore transportation, coordinating a fleet of over 1,300 trucks and a network of local subcontractors to move millions of tons of bauxite annually.

UMS also holds a strategic stake in the Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS), which is developing Blocks I and II of the Simandou deposit in southeastern Guinea — widely recognized as the world's largest untapped high-grade iron ore reserve. This $15 billion megaproject positions UMS at the center of what is expected to become a transformative chapter in global iron ore supply.

In 2021, UMS further expanded its industrial reach by acquiring Alteo, a French industrial manufacturing firm and global leader in specialty aluminas. This acquisition was a significant strategic milestone, connecting West African bauxite extraction with high-end European chemical refining and marking UMS's transition from a regional logistics operator to a vertically integrated international industrial group.

UMS was the first transport company in Guinea to achieve ISO 9001 certification (Quality Management), awarded by Bureau Veritas, underscoring its commitment to international operational standards.
